2 Culture Lifestyle: The Aztec family consisted of a father, mother, single children, and the father’s extended family members. Each member of the family had an important role to make sure everything got done. Education: Boys and girls in the Aztec Civilization were forced to go to school, boys at one school and girls at another. Their main concentrations in studies were; engineering, medicine, hieroglyphics, omen interpretation, and law. Girls studied religion and many household chores including cooking, sewing, weaving, childcare, and dances. Technology: The Aztecs have influenced humans today because of their invention of math, medicines, the Aztec calendar, and the canoe. Art & Decoration: The Aztecs were known for their masterpieces made of metal. They were also heavily involved in sculpting, in which much history of their culture can be found. Language: The Aztecs spoke Nahuatl. This language started in 600AD by Mexica and spread to the Aztecs when Mexica helped to develop the group. Belief system: Religious control Hierarchy system for Gods Sacrifices - Heart and Blood

3 Political Structure Political Structure
The empire was made up of a series of city-states (alteptl) Each city-state had its own supreme leader, supreme judge and administrator Tlatoani Huey Tlatoani Summarizing interaction with European settlers in the first 100 after contact. Moctezuma II was very welcoming to the spanish however especially to Cortes as he believed that he was a noble god that he was warned will come to Tenochtitlan In 1519 Cortes - Spearheaded the conquest of the Aztec Empire and led many conquistadors into Mexico and Central America.

4 Populations The estimated population of the Aztecs before European contact was about 5 million The empire conquered many cities, some with populations over 100,000 people After the Spanish came into Mexico, Hernan Cortes and his army defeated the empire and led to its fall Aztecs were killed through burned cities, others disease (about 25%), and the rest through fighting After European contact, the population had decreased by a few million

In 1431, the Triple Alliance between the Aztecs, the Acolhua, and the Tepaneca was established- these cities were the foundation of the empire In 1487, Temple Mayor was finished and dedicated in the city of Tenochtitlan From the most famous emperor, Montezuma II, reigned In 1521, Tenochtitlan fell to the Spanish and the empire was ended
