4. The first 6 months as unemployed in the jobcenter
You will have 6 meetings in the jobcenter within the first 6 months.
1st meeting is today with info-meeting and workshop/individual group interview with the Flyverteam.
Today’s goal: General information and your start making your ABC-plan.
2nd meeting is workshop & individual interview with the Flyverteam
Goal: Awareness of your competences and network, CV-guide, Networksguide
Homework: Find 10 companies. Take contact by phone to 1 or 2 companies that have a job ad.
3rd meeting is workshop & individual interview with the Flyverteam
Goal: To be more targetted in you applications and using your phone in the jobsearch
Decoding job adds, and target your application to a specific job ad
Elevator speech and practicing contact with the companies via phone.
The next meeting will be an individual meetings that you have to book yourself on jobnet.dk.

5. Focus in the individual meetings
A-B-C plan
Your ABC-plan must show the 3 types of job positions that you primarely target in your job search.
Joblog
Your tool to create an overview of your job search, where both the A-kasse and the Jobcenter can see it as well
For the legal minimums requirement (ask your a-kasse)
Jobnet CV
Important to show all your skills. It is not a sales-CV!
CV-database where the company consultants (virksomhedskonsulenterne) can find you if you match a job offer. Update your CV every 14 days to stay at the top of the search pile.
”Jeg søger job som” (on jobnet.dk)
Write as many job positions as you can find, minimum 3 (more give you more job offers)

6. Why move or commute for your next job?
Too many unemployed in Aalborg compared to the amount of jobs available.
Graduates usually can’t compete with people with years of practical expierence.
Many job openings are not equal to good chances of getting a job.
Less competition if you apply for job/virksomhedspraktik outside of Aalborg (1 hour commute each way).
See it as an investment in getting your dream job in the long run.
Jobs in smaller companies are often more diverse and with more responsibility
-This gives your more practical experience and boost your sales CV.
Frederikshavns kommune is match-maker between companies and suited candidates
within the following areas:
-Maritime Industry (Service, R&D, Design etc.),
-Technical Industry (i.e. High Voltage Engineering),
-Production related Industry (i.e. Mechanical Engineering)

7. Activity Before you have been unemployed for 13 weeks
you must participate in an activity
that last for 2 consecutive weeks
The activity might be:
Job seeking course
Virksomhedspraktik
Løntilskud

8. Virksomhedspraktik Your goal with virksomhedspraktik
Knowledge on how the (Danish) labor market works.
Practical experience and clarification on your skillset and competences.
Expanding your network.
”the use of internal candidates in private companies is 27 %” (Ballisagers rekrutteringsanalyse, 2017).
”42% of the company's have hired via unsolicited applications” (Ballisagers 2017)
”If I receive an unsolicited application the applicant is ahead on points. The applicant has shown interest and initiative by making contact.” (this company only employs Danish speaking applicants)

Ca. 45% is in job 3 months after having completed virksomhedspraktik (Jobcenteret 2016).

9. Virksomhedspraktik Practical info.
From the first day of unemployment you can use virksomhedspraktik
You can use it as many times as you want
- but only once with the same employer and not with your latest employer
Up to 4-8 weeks and up to 37 hours/week
You are not allowed to start virksomhedspraktik until it has been approved and a jobplan is ready (on jobnet.dk).
It will typically take 5 workdays to make the paperwork, counting from when you contact the Jobcenter.
You still have the same responsibilities while in virksomhedspraktik, as you did before, and still receive dagpenge. If in doubt contact your a-kasse.
As newly graduated you can offer virksomhedspraktik in 8 weeks but only if you haven't had a paid job since you graduated.

10. Documentation might be required
Exemption from activity
Exemption from an activity can be up to 6 weeks before start if:
You are starting in a job
You are on your way to maternity leave
You have a part time job with an average of 20 hours/week or more
Documentation might be required

11. Compensation for transport
If you are in virksomhedspraktik or on a course
Apply in your a-kasse for ”Befordringsgodtgørelse” from +24 km/day.
If you have a job interview
The transport time must be more than 3 hours in total from your address to the company's address.

12. Inspiration to your jobsearch
Solicited via phone
Call the contact person in the job add and ask about the job:
What are the priorities in the competences and work assignments mentioned in the job add?
With these information's you can assess if the is a jobmatch with your profile and you can target your application to the specific job.
Remember to write in your application who you have been in contact with.
Unsolicited via phone and (use both)
Contact the relevant person in the company via phone/mail after having researched the company.
The goal is to get a short meeting (5-10 minutes) and get them to read your cv.

13. Use your a-kasse
Your a-kasse can help you make your CV and applications. They often have workplaces available for you.
In your a-kasse you can meet with other unemployed, and create network.
Your a-kasse might offer courses, make sure you know if it does
Your a-kasse has knowledge of the local labor market
Some offer access to company databases.

14. Employment agency
Might give you temporary work in companies, it will expand your network and give you practical experience in the Danish labor market.
The companies often use the employment agencies as a way of recruitment.
Different employment agencies have different specialties.
Signing up
Sign up online and the call the agency, and ask if they have some work for you.
Call the agencies every 14 days, to make sure you are in the top of the pile they most often use.
Never say no when they offer you work.
