Memory Walk in aid of Alzheimer’s Society
Carol Wastell and family took part in a 7k Memory Walk in Blackpool last Sunday, in memory of Carol’s brother-in-law Bernard. They would greatly appreciate any contributions from friends at St John’s, however small. All donations will go to the Alzheimer Society.

URGENT REQUEST FOR NEW HELPERS!!
We are due to hold our next Messy Church at St John’s on Saturday 20th October 3.30 – 5.30pm Many of the regular team members, including Barbara Lang, will be away that weekend, so Barbara Wilson is looking for a number of people who have not previously helped with Messy church but could help out on this occasion.

Andy and Amy Meeson, with Josiah, Elijah, Zachary and Theodore,
have now moved into St John’s Vicarage and are extremely grateful for the huge welcome hamper provided by folk at St John’s. They are very happy for people to call in and say hello, but please respect the fact that Andy does not start work as Vicar until December.

Give thanks That Elijah Meeson gained a place at St James’ Primary School shortly after the start of term and is settling in well (in year 1) alongside older brother Josiah (year 3) and younger brother Zach in pre-school For those who gift aided their donations in 2017/18, as £12,000+ was recently received from HMRC (the ‘tax man’) for St John’s For our cell groups and the opportunity they give us to learn and grow in faith together

Give thanks for some encouraging news received this week from Alistair and Pippa:
For a well-attended parish away day last Saturday with an inspiring speaker That the PCC have decided to stop one Sunday service and start a midweek ‘Cafe church’, planned to be accessible and welcoming for newcomers Further changes to Sunday services are planned for January after some more consultation That God is moving and people are open to change and becoming more hopeful about the future, despite the challenges

A small group from St John’s go into Northbrook School to share stories from the Bible. more volunteers needed Can you spare half an hour on Thursday morning to share stories from the Bible with school children? Speak to Carol Gott, Viv Gynes, Pat Briffa or Barbara W, if you think you could help.
