IB Mission Statement The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

What is IB? The International Baccalaureate (IB) is an international educational programme that offers four high quality programmes to more than one million students in more than 140 countries all over the world. Primary Programme Middle Years Programme Diploma Programme Career-related Programme Founded in 1968, IB currently works with over 3,863 schools in 148 countries. IB works with roughly 1,370 public and private schools here in the United States. The IB creates global awareness in our classrooms.

Middle Years Programme (MYP)
The MYP is designed for students ages 11 to 16. Year 1, 2 and 3. In addition to the core courses, students are required to take 2 years of a second language. Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 = High School Credits

What else is different about the MYP?
Student schedules are different. The IB requires students to have a minimum of 50 hours of teaching per subject group. IB grades on report cards (1-8)

Benefits of the IB Programme?
Students will be encouraged to think independently and drive their own learning. Students will take part in programmes of education that can lead them to some of the highest ranking universities around the world. International Awareness.

IB in Franklin Academy. Our Sunrise campus is currently in its candidacy year. Authorization Process – Next School Year The mission of Franklin Academy is to create life-long learners by developing critical thinking skills and promoting high levels of academic achievement in students, while meeting the benchmarks of a standards- based curriculum utilizing varied research-based instructional strategies, technologies, and media, with an emphasis on character development.

How does the IB affect FA?
Our Curriculum will be the same. Students will be on the path to be prepared for the rigors of high school, college and future careers. IB grades in addition to those found in PowerSchool. Professional Development for staff geared towards IB. Teachers have been, and will continue to be sent all over the United States to participate in specific training in their subject group areas.
