2 Personal Independence Payments (PIP)
For working age (16-64) Support with living with a physical or cognitive disability Broken up in to the daily living activities and mobility components Entitlement may qualify you to other support

3 How the assessment process works
Call the national number ( ) Fill out a ‘How does your disability affect you?’ form Attend a face-to-face assessment Get decision

4 Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
For working age (16-64) Support for people unable to work due to their condition Two different types: Contributory (based on NI contributions) and Income-related ESA (means-tested) Two different groups: Work Related Activity Group (WRAG) and the Support Group

5 ESA assessment process
Call the national number ( ). Application is made through Jobcentre Plus Fill out forms to outline how your disability affects you Limited capability for work assessment Get decision

6 Appeals There is an official appeals process if you are unhappy with a decision on your PIP or ESA claim. This involves going through a process called mandatory reconsideration before going to an appeal.

7 Carer’s Allowance For those who care for someone with a disability 35+ hours a week Earning less than £110 a week and not in full-time education

8 Care Packages Anyone can request an assessment of needs by their local social services Judged on a Fair Access to Care Services criteria (FACS) – these are based on how much not receiving the care would impact independence.
