Community College SAT/ACT is not required
Students should take an MJC class in spring of senior year for priority registration. Sign up for Spring Application workshop October periods in the library. It is FREE to attend MJC while in high school. Great way to complete two years of college for a low price.

CSU Apply Oct 1-Nov 30 Sign up for the CSU application workshop on Oct 5th 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th period in the library. $55 per campus (fee waivers available online) No personal statement or letters of recommendation required!

How to Apply: Apply online to CSU/UC/Common Application
for CSU for UC There are prompts, checks for errors, drop down menus, tech support, etc. Many private schools will have their own application on the Common Application. Students applying to private schools must attend the MANDATORY Common App Workshop on September 18th- 6th or 7th period in the library.

You should apply to a variety of schools: Dream School (Far Reach) Target School (Fairly Likely to be Accepted Safety School (A Sure Thing) Check the Net Price Calculator on each school’s website for cost!

College Visits -Visit colleges you are interested in
-You are allowed 3 days of excused absences for college visits. Permission given by Mrs. Concepcion in the Counseling office- Give 2 weeks notice for approval. -Sign up to attend college visits in the Career Center.

The Waiting Game Students will find out sometime in March for UC’s/privates whether or not they were admitted. CSU’s have rolling admissions. Students will let the colleges know by May 1 which school they plan to attend.

Internet based program offered through Modesto City Schools Students can do college searches, scholarship searches on Naviance. Students can take a career inventory test. It gives students ideas of different careers they may want to pursue Single sign in now from student devices!

ACT/SAT Testing All testing must be completed by December. (San Diego State, Long Beach and Cal Poly want testing done by November). Don’t forget to send scores! If applying to CSU’s only, take SAT/ACT without the writing. -If applying to UC’s take SAT Reasoning and/or ACT with writing. SAT Subject Tests are optional. Only recommended for math, engineering or science majors. Fee waivers available for students on free or reduced lunch.

AP Classes AP classes offer the most rigorous curriculum.
If student passes the test in May with a score of 3 or better they can earn college credit at most universities. Cost is $95.00 per test. You can start paying money to the SBO in $20 increments to help save. If you receive free or reduced lunch the cost of testing is $5 per test.

NCAA Clearinghouse Must apply for the Clearinghouse if planning to play sports at a Division I or II school Must meet core requirements (16 core courses) Division 1 GPA-2.3 minimum Cost is $80 (fee waivers available) Apply now:

Financial Aid Complete the FAFSA (even if you think you won’t qualify) between Oct 1-March 2. Enochs will file Cal Grant GPA electronically (looks at college GPA—10th and 11th grades)— March 2 is the deadline to file FAFSA in order to qualify for a Cal Grant. There will be a MCS College Expo Saturday, October 20 from 9-1 at Downey High School. There will be a college fair as well as breakout sessions on FAFSA, college applications, Naviance, and MJC/CSU/UC.

Financial Aid You will be able to submit the FAFSA with your 2017 tax return information. Apply between October 1-March 2. Check out the Net Price Calculator on the website of any college your child is considering! Very accurate estimate of what you would pay.

Scholarships The Scholarship Bulletin is available online on the Enochs website. The bulletin is updated monthly. Click on the counseling office link and you will find a link to the College and Scholarship Bulletin. I will send out on Remind as well. There is a great scholarship feature on Naviance! Parents employment is a good place to search Colleges/Universities have their own scholarships and are good websites to search for national scholarships.
