3 Chapter Updates Generally meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. We have a year-round calendar. Meetings are held at St. Mary’s University, usually in University Center Conference Room B, or in a lecture room in the Richter Engineering Building. Typical Meeting time schedule: 6:15 PM – 7:00 PM dinner 7:00 PM – 7:15 PM networking 7:15 PM program We meet for dinner before each meeting in the St. Mary’s Cafeteria downstairs in the University Center. We have an area for our group marked with small IEEE Computer Society signs so we can sit together. Dinner is optional. Because of our common interests with other chapters, we have found that joint meetings can be held with those Societies, and will draw interested audiences. With this meeting plan we are able to operate with a small budget for refreshments at each meeting, and the speaker's meal (except Federal employees). Notes:

6 SWOT Analysis Strengths: Computing is a strong focal point for education and professional work. Useful source of continuing education. Mixture of student and senior engineers. Weaknesses: Diversification of computing careers and less corporate sponsorship. Low student attendance from outside the St. Mary’s University community. Opportunities: Good programs attract better attendance. Emphasis on new fields and career opportunities. Threats: Low IEEE Member Attendance gives us a very small pool to search for new leadership. Notes:

8 Thanks If you’d like to learn more about electronic services, you’ll want to attend the session on the Electronic Services being presented this afternoon by Christian Borges (BORE-GERT) and Chip Dawson. If you miss this afternoon’s session, you can see it tomorrow morning. Now I’d like to answer your questions about newsletters and electronic services . . . (After Q&A) I’m sorry we don’t have time to answer all of your questions, but we have an abundance of expertise with us this weekend, and much of it is in the Computer Lab upstairs. Stop by and get more information anytime.
