To Maintain the balance of nature
It has economic value
It has scientific value
It has recreational value
It has cultural value
It helps in the preservation
of human civilization

3. CAUSES FOR EXTINCTION OF WILD LIFE
INDISCRIMINATE HUNTING
Several Species have become extinct due to their
hunting by ma far food pleasure & animal products .
DESTRUCION OF NATURAL HABITAT
Man has destroyed the natural habitats for his needs .
LEGAL LAPSE
The failure of enforcement of the existing laws of wildlife management is yet another reason for the rapid depletion for wildlife .
HUMAN IGNORANCE
Man is Mainly responsible in the depletion of wildlife on the earth .

4. CONSERVATION STRATAGIES
Special attention should be given to conserve the species which fall in the category of threatened species .
The products of wild animals being used for international trade should be allowed only at levels which would not endanger the related wildlife .
Migratory route should be marked out & protected for migratory birds .
Increased support from state & central government agencies for the conservation of natural resources .
Prevention of devasting forest fires.

5. CONSERVATION OF FOREST
DECLINING FOREST COVER
Besides many ecological benefits ,forest offer many direct & indirect advantages . Among these include meting the food requirement of a large number of forest communities . Many fir-bearing animal farms are found from forests. Fir industry is well developed in Russia , Canada & USA . wood of many forest trees is used for making paper , pulp & Synthetic fibers . Many industrial raw materials like varnishes , herbs , fuels & fodder come from forests . Despite these benefits , the forest cover of the world is continuously declining.

6. CAUSES OF THE LOSS OF FORESTS
LACK OF PRAGMATIC FOREST POLICY
The people are not denied the right to use forest wealth but they have to make an equal effort to replenish forests by undertaking massive reforestation and afforestation programmers.
ENVIRONMENT POLLUTION :
Environmental pollution is mainly on account of in roads into forest lands, setting up industries near forests, undertaking agricultural activities on forest lands.
LAND USE :
From time to time ,forest land and even landscaped parts are diverted for industrial, agricultural or settlement.

7. CONSERVATION OF FOREST
“Tree for a Tree” principle should be adopted.
Wood as a fuel should be discouraged.
Cattle grazing in the forest should be checked.
Any breakout of fire in the forest should be fought quickly using modern means to minimise the loss.
Trees should be planted in places where the land is unfit for agriculture.
Fumigation and aerial sprays should be carried out to protect the trees from pests and diseases.
