3. A Better Start: a summary
Aims to improve the life chances of babies and
very young children by delivering a significant increase in the use of preventative approaches in pregnancy and the first three years of life.
£215m investment over 10 years
Five local area partnerships within Blackpool, Bradford, Lambeth, Nottingham and Southend on Sea.
All pregnant women, babies and children aged up to their fourth birthday living in the target wards will benefit.
Each local area consists of a number of target wards and has a population of around 50,000.
All pregnant women, babies and children aged up to their fourth birthday living in those target wards will benefit and some will received additional and specialist support if they need it.
Partnerships include Parents, Community Groups, VCSE organisations, Health and Public Services. Inclusive decision making & coproduction of service design.

5. Lambeth Early Action Partnership
A wide range of partners – local authority, CCG, hospital trusts, community and parents – convened by National Children’s Bureau
Coalesced around a shared vision – Lambeth to be the best place in the world to be born and grow up
Delivery in 4 wards – 50,000 pop
Three child focussed outcomes – improving social and emotional development , communication and language and diet and nutrition
Systems change outcomes – Resources are focused on prevention, with parents and the community as active drivers of local services.
Pregnant women and children are supported by a strong, family-centred single pathway, around which organisations work together and information flows freely
