5 What is a Block? Morning (AM) 15 to 17 days = one block
10 blocks per year ½ unit per block Afternoon (PM) 30 to 34 days = one block 5 blocks per year ½ unit per block

6 Details MUST complete each class with passing grade (D or higher)
Each morning block completed = ½ UNIT (CREDIT) Each afternoon block completed = ½ UNIT (CREDIT) Vo-tech = 4 Units Per YEAR Work Study = up to 2 Units Internship = up to 2 Units SERVICE LEARNING, COMMUNITY SERVICE, COUNSELING, AND ART PROGRAM.

7 ATTENDANCE/ TARDIES 3rd Absence in AM Block or 4th Absence in PM Block = Contract/NC 3 Tardies = 1 absence Parent/ guardian must come and check student out or call MEC office. ONLY GET 2 ABSENCES

8 MORNING SCHEDULE 7:15 Bus leaves parking lot 7:45 Building Opens
8: Class Begins 10:00 Break/Student Store 10:15 Class Reconvenes 11:10 VoTech Bus Arrives

9 AFTERNOON SCHEDULE 12:15 – 12:45 Lunch 12:45 - 2:10 Afternoon Classes
2: Classes Dismiss Bus returns students to high school parking lot.

10 Otherwise, leave campus ASAP as you are trespassing!
7th MHS When Alt Ed bus arrives at the High School, wait in Commons if you have 7th Hour class. Otherwise, leave campus ASAP as you are trespassing!

11 WORK STUDY Minimum of 70 hours Required pay stubs for documentation
Must have Ms. Merchant and advisor’s permission

12 INTERNSHIP Minimum of 70 hours
Requires documentation of volunteer hours, completion of project, presentation to peers. Must apply receive permission. Parent Meeting Required

13 Grades/Progress Report Cards mailed at end of each Block
Parents/Guardians can check progress at any time online (

14 PARKING Must have parking permit
Must park at the designated parking lot (unless told otherwise by high school). Park here – bad things happen No student is allowed to drive a vehicle to MEC.

15 Arrival/Dismissal If arrival/dismissal is changing, Mrs. Merchant must be notified PRIOR TO dismissal on the date of the change. By Parent/Guardian

21 Checking Students Out Early
You must scan your ID and sign your child out on the SchoolSafe Console.. You may still be asked to show ID. This should rarely, if ever, happen! *

22 MEDICATION We must have a medication form on file for any type of prescription and/or non-prescription medication. STUDENTS MAY NOT CARRY MEDICATION WITH THEM TO TAKE DURING THE SCHOOL DAY. THIS INCLUDES ASPIRIN/TYLENOL AND COLD PRODUCTS.

23 High School Schedule If you missed your pickup day last week, you will report to the High School Auditorium on August 16. They will call students by rows to call home & complete Residence Verification. Once finished, bring that to MEC NO DRIVING

24 Severe Weather In The Event Of Severe Weather: Doors Locked
Students in FEMA-Rated Shelter Doors Unlocked After The Threat Has Passed. You may check your child out early or keep them home with an excused absence on high risk weather days (this is typically only once or twice a year). *
