A commercial airline flies on average 900 km/hr what is it’s speed in m/s? (1 kilometer = 1000 meters) The average speed of a person walking is 3 mi/hr what is this in m/s? (1 mile = 1610 meters) A bike traveling 15 km/hr travels at how many miles per an hour? (1 mile = 1610 meters)

Calculus  Mathematically a velocity time graph is the derivative of a position time graph. The slope (either a numerical value or equation) of the p-t graph is the equation used to make our v-t graph. What we can do algebraically is to calculate the slope of a p- t line in order to determine velocity. Linear Slope= Ξ”Y/Ξ”X = rise/run= m/s = Velocity! In contrast the integral (antiderivative) of a v-t graph will give us the equation for our p-t graph. We can instead find the area under a v-t graph to determine an objects displacement.

8 MOAR CALCULUS Change in object motion can be defined at even higher levels. We know that acceleration is a change in velocity over time. Did you know that jerk is the change in acceleration. Or that jounce is a change in jerk Or crackle a change in jounce… And finally pop a change in crackle? SNAP! Each is a derivative of the prior.
