WHATS NEW THIS YEAR CONT’D
Commitment Line: Perpendicular to the 3rd base line, 30 feet from home plate. Once the runner has touched or crossed the line, they are not allowed to return to 3rd base. If they touch or cross over the line, then cross back towards 3rd, they are automatically out, and the ball remains live.
9
WHATS NEW THIS YEAR CONT’D
Extension Line: A 5-6ft line extending from home plate to a 90 degree angle into foul territory on the 3rd base side. A runner’s foot down on or beyond the line is the same as stepping on Home plate. Running outside the line is the same as not touching the plate. If the runner touches home plate, he/she will be declared out! This is a safety rule. The runner must touch the home plate line in order to score.
