Collect and review prevalence numbers Examine resource capacity through Sequential Intercept Mapping Identify policy and funding barriers Develop a plan with measurable outcomes Implement research-based approaches to advance plan Create a process to track progress using data

Reduce Number of Mentally Ill in Jails
Desired Outcomes Reduce Number of Mentally Ill in Jails Increased Opportunity to connect people to treatment upon contact with law enforcement Reduction *People booked into jail with mental illness *Jail length of stays *People returning to jail Implement Validated & universal risk assessments that assess mental illness to better inform pretrial release decisions Use of assessment information to connect people to appropriate jail-based services, post-release services and supervision Ensure Services & supervision are evidence-based & hold system accountable by measuring outcomes
