3. Introduction
So this all started when Elmridge Primary School applied to achieve the International School Award (ISA) Full Accreditation. One of the requirements was for each year group to pair up with another school. Our group (with Dee Dee) paired up with a school called Compass International School Rayyan Campus. Dee Dee picked a small amount of children from every class to do an Art lesson for a display. We decided to do this art based on the lifestyle of Manchester in the style of Lowry.

4. About Lowry
Lowry is famous for painting scenes of life in the industrial districts of North West England in the mid-20th century. He developed a distinctive style of painting and is best known for his urban landscapes peopled with human figures often referred to as "matchstick men". He painted mysterious unpopulated landscapes, brooding portraits and the unpublished "marionette" works, which were only found after his death.

5. ISA
The pupils at Elmridge Primary School teamed up with two schools in the Middle East – one in Qatar and the other in U.A.E. We recorded elements of our lives in Manchester, from the architecture, famous landmarks and artists to football logos and inventions. We then combined these drawings with drawings from our partner schools. You will have seen the fantastic creations around school.

6. Year 1
Year 1 created a map of Greater Manchester as a floor for all the other things that are layered on top.

7. Year 2
Year 2 created the Qatar flag ready to add to the final collage.

8. Year 3
Year 3 painted famous buildings from Qatar.

9. Year 4
Year 4 made some trees in the style of the trees in the Elmridge logo.

10. Year 5
Year 5 did a banner on the photo in the hall with Arabic writing and they also arranged some letters above them reading, ‘And he painted matchstick men and matchstick cats and dogs’.

11. Year 6
Year 6 did the main artwork which was pictures of them in the style of Lowry. They were doing things which are part of their lifestyle.

The children in Qatar have used their local environment and familiar objects, animals and settings to develop intricate patterns.

All of this hard-work is helping Elmridge achieve our goal of achieving the Full Accreditation International School Award. I’m sure most of you will have received pieces of work in return. This afternoon we are going to develop our links further. Your teacher is going to create a new piece of work with you that will go on display around our school. The theme of this work is ‘Manchester!’ We hope you enjoy your afternoon and we look forward to seeing your wonderful work around our school! 
