2 Our Environmental Impact: An Overview
We are… young adults in a developed country students, pastry chefs, front desk assistants, nannies We use… gas and electric for our domestic and transportation needs (i.e. to heat our homes or power our cars) We believe… that we live in an ever-shifting society, propelled by immediate gratification and a false sense of limitlessness. Due to this paradigm, our ecological footprints have expanded beyond our means; they threaten catastrophic consequences within a foreseeable future.

3 Personal Uses of Natural Resources “Big Picture”
Energy: electricity, gas Household: 3 people (3 bed, 1 bath) Transportation: Car (10 miles to work/ 5 miles to school) Water: Shower, dishwasher, sink(s), washer Food: $40.00-$60.00 (individually) not lots of meat, fruits and vegetables, some packaged foods. Roommate vegan

4 Energy Uses (Carbon, Water, Food)
(x3 people) gas, water, electricity - $60.00 compost, recycle, less in landfill (small trashcan) Food in house, lots of vegan/organic Animals, buying into the “meat market” recently moved, first PG&E bill. Old unit, no gas, well water, wood stove

5 Personal Footprint Below average Vegan roommate unplug appliances
turn off water shower and sinks

6 Comparison (team vs “them”)
We are below the average U.S. citizen. Have planned actions to lower our carbon output even more We are able to save more money by being more conscious of our carbon output.

7 Taking Action This massive global issue isn’t anything more than the culmination of every individual’s ecological footprint taking up just a bit too much space. A couple small changes, if made by many, could have a real impact. For instance: Bike ride to work or school Walk to the convenient store Turn the faucet off while brushing your teeth Reuse water bottles and recycle

8 Proposal for Personal Change:
Be more planet conscious--keep the planet in mind when making decisions Invest in more fuel efficient cars higher consciousness around homes: turn off lights when leaving a room solar electricity more efficient heating and cooling unplug things when no longer in use reduce, reuse, recycle.

9 To Conclude... We believe that, although our society makes commodities of otherwise very limited resources, we don’t need to abuse this availability. Take only what you need and give back what you can.
