5. Foundation High School Plan
The purpose of the FHSP graduation plan is to….
Instill flexibility in public education by enabling students to either pursue a traditional path into colleges and universities or move directly into the workforce (ex. Welding, Cosmetology certifications).
An Endorsement is similar to a college major. Completion of an Endorsement will allow students to graduate from high school with knowledge and/or experience in the college major they wish to pursue.
Students can earn an endorsement in one of the following areas:

8. Arts & Humanities Endorsement
Students who choose an endorsement in arts and humanities will be designing, producing, exhibiting, performing, writing and publishing multimedia content, including visual and performing arts and design, journalism, and entertainment services.

9. Engineering Math Science STEM Endorsement
Students pursuing a STEM endorsement must take algebra II as their third math course and they must choose chemistry and physics as 2 of their science courses.

14. Core Class Selection Dual Credit (D) Advanced Placement (AP)
Students may receive college credit only if they take the AP exam and score a 3 or higher on the exam. AP courses and exams do not qualify as dual credit. There is a fee ($90 average cost) to take a AP exam for college credit. Check the AP credit policy at the college of choice to confirm what score is required in order to award credit.
Students may receive college credit if they pass the course with a college grade of a “C”.

Dual Credit allows high school students to earn both high school and college credit . In order to earn college credit, the course must be passed with a C or higher.

College credit may be awarded depending on the student’s score on the AP examination. Individ­ual colleges and universities, not the College Board or the AP Program, determine course credit and placement.
High school and college credit through Lone Star College (LSC) is awarded when the student passes the course.
 College/ University Acceptance
Accepted at thousands of universities around the world. Typically requires a score of 3 or higher on the AP exam. Students should check with their chosen universities to see if AP credit may be awarded.
Accepted at public (and some private) colleges and universities in Texas as well as many outside of Texas. Requires semester average of C or better for transferability. Students should check with their chosen universities to see if Dual credit may be awarded.

18. Four Year Plan / Course Selections
Log on to
Review the classes selected for next year
Students will receive a copy of their Bridges Four Year Plan on course selection day. Any change requests must be indicated on Four Year Plan and returned to house counselor.
Change requests are due back to House Counselor no later than February 16th. Counselors will input change requests in Bridges.
All changes thereafter will be made via course request verifications which will be distributed to students in April.
NOTE: Graduation Plans (Endorsements) may not be changed in Bridges. You must consult with your counselor prior to an endorsement change. Changing your endorsement without your counselor’s approval may result in a delay of graduation.

22. Students earn 0.5 credit for each class they successfully pass each semester.
Students can average to pass to regain credit
Example: 1st semester = 65 (earns no credit)
2nd semester = 75 (earns 0.5 credit)
Average for the semester = 70
(regain 0.5 credit from 1st semester)
Students must earn 6 credits at the end of their 9th grade year to be classified as a Sophomore.
Students must earn 12 credits at the end of their 10th grade year to be classified a Junior.

23. Important Algebra Requirement
Successful completion of Algebra 1 is necessary before enrolling in any other math course. Any student who has not successfully completed Algebra 1 and therefore unable to enroll in a sequenced math course the following year will put themselves in danger of not being able to meet graduation requirements on time.
