5. Capture Considerations – Processing
Server side performance items such as TEXTPDF conversion, Zonal OCR, Separation, Image Cleanup are common functions used to help process documents.
Localized processing – Using a Hosted/Hybrid/SaaS version allows for the use of GlobalCapture. This gives you the power of Square 9’s Capture workflow engine (as well as the processing functions like OCR/BCR/TEXTPDF conversion/Separation) using local processor resources. There is a minimal cost and reduced limitations because the document is processed locally and the final image and data is sent to the hosted/hybrid/SaaS environment after processing.
Server side processing – Since buying processor cycles is expensive and storage is not, it makes sense to use local resources (even a windows PC) to pre-process documents to send to the remote storage facility.

What is the reliability?
Amazon S3 is designed to provide % durability of objects over a given year. This durability level corresponds to an average annual expected loss of % of objects. For example, if you store 10,000 objects with Amazon S3, you can on average expect to incur a loss of a single object once every 10,000,000 years. In addition, Amazon S3 is designed to sustain the concurrent loss of data in two facilities.
