Background Agriculture is North Carolina’s leading industry, but is also the most dangerous industry in the United States Every day, about 167 agricultural workers suffer from a work related- injury In 2012, in the United States, 374 farm workers died from a work related injury

First on Scene’s Mission
Prevent individuals responding to a farm incident from becoming a victim of the incident First person to come across an accident is usually the farmer, farm family member, employee, friend, neighbor Teach individuals the importance of responding appropriately to farm related incidents and emergencies

Program Layout 3-hour class that covers basic scene safety and first aid Free first aid kit and 5# fire extinguisher to all participants 50/50 cost share for farms that have completed program to obtain additional emergency supplies Agricultural trauma training to rural EMS and fire units 50/50 cost share to EMS or fire units to support cost of farm-related emergency training and/or rescue equipment
