Students should bring Chromebooks to school fully charged daily Students should be connected to school printer via Cloud

5 Chromebook Components:
Let users open up the Chromebooks; hold them and take a look at them looking for flash drives ports, HDM1, audio jacks, etc., power ports, etc Chromebooks start up in 8 seconds; no hard drive so no viruses; do have speakers, cameras and microphones for audio and video editing; USB ports, and HDM1 port. Will run flash but not Java. Show them the cart, how they are stored, and how students get the computer. Emphasize assigning certain # to each student – Laptop Rules Chromebook Camera 5

9 Chromebooks, Google Accounts and Students:
You MUST have a Google Account to use a Chromebook . Riverdale students K – 8 have Google accounts Students cannot receive from outside of our domain Student Google account usernames are: first initial, last (Some exceptions for siblings with the same first initial.) Password is: student login plus Riverdale Google Accounts provide 25 GB of storage – free!

11 Google Drive Portability, Accessibility, Convenience
Google Drive offers word-processing, spreadsheet, and slideshow programs with similar formats and tools as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Create, access, and edit files anywhere on any device. No USB drive needed. Auto-saves instantly -- no headaches (or excuses) due to technology glitches. Version history has ability to track changes made and restore previous versions.

13 Google Drive Sharing and Collaborating
Teachers can view and comment on student work. Teachers can create templates to assist students with formatting or beginning a document. Students can share with other students to collaborate on the same assignment from different locations. Each user can edit the same document simultaneously in real time. Each user can see who is viewing and editing based on color code. Viewers can comment at places in text and overall. Owner can decide to share with ability to edit, comment, or just view.

To simulate a RIGHT mouse click on the Chromebook: tap the touchpad with two fingers simultaneously 2. To scroll up and down a web page: move two fingers simultaneously up or down the touchpad 3. To simulate the back or forward arrows on Google to look at previously viewed webpages: use two fingers to “swipe” along the top or bottom of the touchpad 4. To take a screenshot of an entire page: Use CTRL+ 22

To take a screen shot of a portion of a page: Use CTRL+ Shift+ (This turns your cursor into a crosshair. Hold one finger down on the touchpad while drawing a rectangle around the desired portion of the page with another finger, then release.) To enlarge type on a page: CTRL + To reduce type size on a page: CTRL – To find text on a page: CTRL + F
