Discuss with your parents first about buying materials before committing fully to a specific material.

You will supply all materials for your projects marked with a *red; teacher provided materials are in blue REQUIRED ITEMS *Tri-Fold presentation Board** (36 x 48) (foam or cardboard) *Glue *Colored pencils or Markers *all experiment materials Experiment instructions Job recording sheet Other Optional Items (these Would be supplied by students) Colored construction paper Foam letters/Sticker Letters ***NO GLITTER GLUE PLEASE***

7 Sources You can use the following sources to gather information about your storm system: Internet Magazines Books Scientific Journals

8 Poster Guidelines Your poster will be graded on organization and creativity. You will need to take your time and make sure that the following guidelines are met: BE PROFESSIONAL – Your poster should be professional and include topic appropriate information Be Organized – your posters should be clearly organized and thought out; think about the layout of the poster before you start gluing your pictures, details, etc. to your poster board Be creative – Include interesting facts about your system (not just the first thing you find on the internet!). You can get creative decorating your poster as well, but stay relevant to the topic (no pictures of unicorns or flying squirrels, etc.) Be colorful – pictures should be in color Be Visible – Make sure all of your information can be read clearly (don’t use size 10 font for your print outs etc.; use larger fonts that can be read) – use correct spelling!!!

9 Example of clean poster layout

10 Thunderstorm Follow the “Poster guidelines” and include the following:
Title – Your type of system should be clear Names – Group member names and Teacher name on the back of the poster Definition/What is a thunderstorm? – Include the definition of a thunderstorm What you knew – include sentences or bullet points about what your group knew about thunderstorms before you began the project

11 Thunderstorms Facts – research and include 8-10 interesting new Facts about Thunderstorms Data – Include at least one data table (statistics) with interesting information about thunderstorms in a specific region you are interested in and highlight that region (maybe look at Arizona?) **Experiment – Conduct a thunderstorm experiment** include your experiment steps and results on the poster. Include a picture of your completed experiment as well. Safety tips – include at least 5 safety tips on your poster to use during a thunderstorm Conclusion – Write a paragraph using complete sentences about what you learned during you project. Include any additional information you would like to know more about. Pictures – Include at least 6 pictures on your poster (this number includes your experiment picture) Sources – have a well organized sources page on the back of you poster that cites all of your sources for each of your poster items

12 Hurricane Title – Your type of system should be clear
