2. NJC Pay Offer
Your North West Regional Service Group and your NJC Committee recommend that you REJECT the employers pay offer. Your Branch Committee has also met and unanimously voted to REJECT the current offer.
This briefing explains the offer and the reasons why the recommendation is to REJECT it in the current membership consultation

3. TU Claim
The claim was submitted in May 2017 by the NJC Trade Union Side (UNISON, GMB and Unite) and asked for:
A single year pay settlement
The real Foundation Living Wage to be the lowest NJC pay value. This is currently £8.75 outside London
5% increase on all pay points after the real Foundation Living Wage is applied

4. NJC Pay Offer 2018-20 Employers made offer in December 2017.
Key Features:
A two year ‘final’ offer covering the period 01/04/18 to 31/03/20
Incorporates joint review of NJC pay spine
Cumulative increase on current SCP 6 of 15.65% over 2 Years
Start at SCP 10 with 5.55% over 2 years

6. Other factors
In real terms pay has fallen by approximately 21% since 2010
Inflation for September 17 was 3% (CPI) and 3.9% (RPI)
4 days unpaid leave amounts to a further 1.6% pay cut.
WIRRAL Council workers’ pay is BEHIND all North West councils who follow NJC pay by 1%
Other rises since 2010 (all up) Gas Bills 49%, Rent 25%, Crèche fees 34%, Rail Fees 27% & Water 25%

UNITE have already rejected the offer, GMB are balloting themselves
Austerity is NOT a necessity it is a clear political ideology
