2. BOTTOM LINE
There have been many miracles and private revelations since the last Apostle died, ending “Public Revelation!” This We Believe!!!
From the cross, Jesus gave His Mother to John and the Church as our Mother and Our Queen and honored her with the Assumption!
Since then, many Marian apparitions of Our Lady have occurred as private revelations: Our Lady of Guadalupe 1531, La Salette 1846, Lourdes 1858, Pontmain 1871, to Catherine Laboure [1830], Our Lady of Knock 1879, & L’Ile-Bouchard 1947, to mention only a few.
Fatima [1917] is the most evidential of all of them having 70,000+ witnesses and photographs documenting the “Miracle of the Sun.”
Public revelation is the only “required to believe”; however,……..

4. The message of Fatima… It’s Our Faith! The Doctrines taught:
God as Trinitarian and Eucharistic (this is the God we believe in, this is Our faith, this is Whom we Adore);
Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary (she comes to underline that Her heart is our refuge - She is our Mother - and a way to Jesus);
Devotion that is manifested in Prayer, especially the Rosary;
Conversion and Penance;
Reparation (including the First Saturday devotion);
Consecration (She asks us to trust ourselves in Her);
Other doctrines: Angels, Heaven, Hell and Purgatory

I offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He is offended. 6. 3 StatueS of our lady of fatima
The Original statue was carved by the Portuguese sculpture Jose Thedim in 1920 w/o consulting Lucia – it remained the main statue venerated today.
Thedim was again asked to created a new Fatima statue [two Pilgrim Virgin statues], this time with approval of Lucia, and on May 13, 1947, the 30th anniversary of the first apparition, the first Pilgrim Virgin statue was blessed and sent on its journey through Europe and the second eventually to America. 
Coincidently, an American sculpture - Dominican priest, Fr Thomas Mcglynn, was commissioned to make a new statue under the direction of Sr. Lucia in 1947.
That statue represented the apparition of 13 Jun 1917, the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
It received wide approval and was recast in the US and placed in the Basilica niche overlooking the Cova.

7. The Issue of the Crown
The children did not see Our Lady with a crown, nor did the sculpture include one in The “gift of the crown” was given by the women of Portugal 13 Oct Before that, the statue wore a halo of stars.
In 1646, King Joao IV lifted the crown from his head and placed it at the feet of a statue of the Blessed Virgin & declared her Queen & Patroness of Portugal under title of the Immaculate Conception.
On May 13, 1946, before 700,000 pilgrims, Pope Pius XII Papal legate placed a precious crown, the jewels donated by women of Fatima, on the head of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima.
For December 8, 1946, the feast of the Immaculate Conception, a solemn procession began from Fatima on 22 November. On 1 December, 3 doves appeared and remained at the feet of the statue through the entire journey into Lisbon and the 3rd centenary renewal of the consecration of the nation to the Immaculate Conception!

8. The 3 Secrets of Fatima
Lucia divided the July apparition into three parts, which she called secrets. She explained the first two secrets in her memoirs in August 21, She wrote about the third secret in 1944 by order of the Bishop of Leira and put it in a sealed envelop which eventually went unopened to the secret archives of the Vatican on April 4, It was finally revealed May 13, 2000 by St Pope John Paul II in Fatima.
Secret 1: Vision of Hell and Prayers to Save Sinners
Secret 2: World War I will end. Pray, especially the rosary. If people do not stop offending God a greater war will break out, even worse than this one.
Secret 3: Most controversial, even today…it was revealed to the children in a series of visions which are subject to many interpretations.

9. Interesting Items [1]
A small chapel was built in 1919 at the place the tree had been [Cova da Iria]. It was dynamited in 1922 by masons [anticlerics] and rebuilt. By grace, the statue was removed that evening and missed the bombing!
Church authorities delayed recognition of the apparitions for a long time. A Bishop was appointed for the area, Leira, in 1920 & in 1922 he selected a commission to study the events – It took 7 years. In 1930 he declared the apparitions of Fatima to be worthy of credence
When St Jacinta’s body was exhumed [1935] and found incorrupt, he commanded Sr Lucia to write her memoirs.
Miraculous cures and remarkable conversions have been numerous from the beginning.

10. Interesting Items [2]
Francisco and Jacinta Marto knew from the apparitions, and let it be known, that they were soon going to die. Both contracted influenza in Francisco died in 1919 and Jacinta in 1920.
Lucia was placed in an orphanage, North of Portugal under the name Maria das Dores to protect her. In 1925 she was admitted into the Sisters of Saint Dorothy in Tui, Spain, where she remained until Until 1942, this was substantially all the WORLD knew of the story and meaning of the Fatima apparitions.

Angel appears and says, “What are you doing? Pray! Pray very much! The hearts of Jesus and Mary have designs of mercy on you. Offer prayer and sacrifices constantly to the Most High.”
Lucia says, “How do we make sacrifices?”
Angel responds, “Make everything you can a sacrifice, and offer it to God as an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended, and in supplication for the conversion of sinners.”
“You will thus draw down peace upon your country. I am its Angel Guardian, the Angel of Portugal.”

Flash of Light, Mary Appeared, The Lady is “bright like a crystal”
Children bathed in light that comes from the Lady as she hovered on a small holmoak tree.
“Do not be afraid. I will do you no harm. I’m from heaven.”
Lucia says, “What do you want of me?”
“Come for six months on 13th at this same hour.”
The lady says, “Are you willing to offer yourselves to God, and bear all the sufferings He wills to send you, as an act of reparation for the sins, by which He is offended and of supplication for the conversion of sinners?”
Lucia says, “Yes, we are willing.”
Pray the rosary every day, in order to obtain peace for the world and end the war [WW I]

21. June 13th, 1917 2nd apparition - 50 People show up as well as children
Mary appears after they finished praying the rosary
Lucia says, “What do you want of me?” “Come back here next month, pray the rosary, learn how to read.”
Lucia asks Mary to take them to heaven: “Jacinta & Francisco soon, but you will stay here for some time!
Every time Mary says, “I will heal some, but not all” or “If they are converted, then they will be healed.”
Lucia concerned about being alone. Mary says, “No my daughter. Are you suffering a great deal? Don’t lose heart. I will never forsake you. My immaculate heart will be your refuge, and the way that leads you to God.”
Mary opens her hands and for a 2nd time rays of light immerse them. In front of the palm of Her right hand was a heart encircled by thorns: Her Immaculate Heart, outraged by the sins of humanity, and seeking reparation.

Mary says sacrifice yourself for sinners and say many times when you make sacrifices, “O Jesus, it is for love of thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

“Know that this is the great sign given to you by God, that He is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecution of the Church and of the Holy Father. To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, and the communion of reparation of the First Saturdays. If my requests are headed, Russia will be converted and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecution of the Church. The good will be martyred. The Holy Father will have much to suffer. Various nations will be annihilated. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me and she will be converted. A period of peace will be granted to the world. In Portugal, the dogma of the faith will always be preserved.”

There will be eternal suffering and the suffering of us all, especially the Church
War will end, but if people do not cease offending God, a worse war will break out in the pontificate of Pius XI.
Mary tells the children, “When you pray the Rosary, say after each mystery: ‘Oh my Jesus, forgive us, save us from the fire of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are in need.”
God wishes to establish in the world this devotion to Our Heavenly Mother.
In the end, Mary’s Immaculate Heart will triumph

People walked through pasture land to get there, wet and filthy
Lucia sees the Lord and other heavenly visitors, she does not see the miracle of the sun
Build a chapel in her honor. “I am the Lady of the Rosary. Continue always to pray the rosary every day. The war is going to end and the soldiers will return to their homes.”
Lucia asks for cures and conversions.
Mary says, “Some yes, but not others. They must amend their lives and ask forgiveness of their sins. Do not offend the Lord, our God, anymore, because He is already so much offended.”
