Summer Term Happenings in CDS and Looking Ahead to fall!

2 Quick review Summer term 6/26- 8/15
CDS 609 – 9 credits (unless in AAC rotation-then 7 credits of ) 609 will meet M-F week of 6/26 from 8-10:50a.m.– Special Topics – Working in Schools taught by Katie Mason Group Supervisor Meetings and planning Week 1 Main Supervisor Meetings Week 1 Clinic begins 7/5 and ends 8/11 8/14- 8/15 Final Meetings and wrap up

3 Summer camps and intensive treatment weeks
Intensive treatments –Summer offers Flexibility Benefit to Clients As students, practice “daily” intervention planning and implementation Concentration of majority of hours in 2 weeks Strategize how to best use unstructured time Time management crucial to being prepared for camp and other assignments occurring **NOTE: Clock Hours are averaged over the entire term Off campus assignments-you may be on-site more time-observation, shadowing, case management

4 Camps and special activities happening this summer
Kindergarten Readiness Camp - YCC Middle School Social Skills Camp –School Age AAC Camp – AAC BFF Fluency School Age Camp-Fluency Speech, Language and Hearing Screenings at Vivian Olum Childcare Center - YCC ”Field Trips” with Eugene Parks and Rec - CAALMS

5 New and returning summer supervisors
Shelly Watson AAC Clients and Camp Sara Starlin Kinder Readiness Sierra Corbin CAALMS and AAC Alison Hintz Middle School Social Skills

6 MEDICAL Externships Medical Placements– Elise Peltier
Elise and I are up to speed and all outstanding placements/contracts Will communicate with you as soon as they are set Susan’s message – everyone has one-still juggling to match as closely as possible Elise will meet with you in Fall to review any requirements

7 School Placements Schools/September Experience – Sara Starlin
September Experiences Assignments are set Outstanding contracts are close Sara will be on contract and in contact with you and your hosts She will troubleshoot any issues that arise School Assignments are in GREAT Shape- local will be assigned in Fall Sara will meet with you

8 Transition Susan will be in touch with each of you before she leaves
She’ll begin copying on Elise and Sara on s Susan’s will remain and she is open to answering questions Couldn’t be in better hands with Sara and Elise! Feel free to contact me if needed Side Note – No longer working at Prairrie Mountain Sara Starlin will take a group of students each term to Maple Elementary

9 Fall New Faculty Member – Stephanie DeAnda
4 New Doctoral Students, 3 will be supervising in the clinic Jim, Ting Fen and Lidia Pilot of Bilingual Specialization Looking for 2-4 local students to volunteer for student panel (Clinical Methods) Thursday 9/21 from 4-5 Less peer mentoring with Clients, move towards “navigators” with clinical processes
