What is ALB (Anaplophora glabripennis)?
Kingdom Animalia Phylum Arthropoda Class Insecta Order Coleoptera Family Cerambycidae Genus Anoplophora Species A. glabripennis Native to Asia – China and Koreas First detected in North America in Brooklyn, NY 1996 Regulate 12 genera of hardwood trees MAPLE IS PREFERRED HOST! Primary Hosts Maple Buckeye Elm Willow Birch Secondary Hosts Mimosa Katsura Ash Platanus Poplar Mountain Ash Goldenraintree

First detected in Boston in 2010 Declared eradicated in 2014 Mention the yellow background being the maple forests, single points of introduction that cause smaller regional infestations due to human assisted movement of regulated articles

Take Home Messages…. ALB Eradication Program is administered by USDA-APHIS-PPQ, ODA, and other cooperators. In OH, ALB has only been identified in Clermont Co. 2 separate quarantine zones (used to be 3) Over 19,000 infested trees detected since 2011 DON’T MOVE FIREWOOD! Light infestations of ALB are hardest to detect The earlier an infestation is detected, the easier it is to eradicate! Public and green industry is key to identifying new infestations. ERADICATION IS POSSIBLE! Report any suspected sightings or infestations of ALB ALB-OH Field Office:
