The objectives of this Medicine Grand Rounds are to:
Review the HIV epidemic in the US where Florida is an epicenter for new HIV diagnoses.
Discuss why primary care providers must be more involved in helping identify and manage patients with HIV, and their roles to prevent additional cases in those at risk.
Describe the current guidelines to screen, diagnose, and work up newly diagnosed HIV patients, as well as, the latest in antiviral therapy and potential drug interactions.
