Quidel Leadership Institute: Development Needs
Supervisors were asked to review the essential skills and identify those most important for success at Quidel and where the greatest development needs are in their work groups. Three top rated areas necessary for success were also identified as development needs: Communication skills Continuous improvement Positive change Other identified development needs: Motivating others Priority setting Time management Project management Company Confidential

Food for Thought Supervisory Skill Update Project Management Priority Setting Communication Influencing Language Training etc. Examples of training for all employees include: Strategic selling skills Quality and Production- related SOPs Continuing education for certifications: - Purchasing - Accounting - Legal/HR - IS General Management Skill Updates Focal review training Anti-harassment training Business Leadership Training (BLT) Behavioral styles – your own and others Working as a team Change Accountability Shadow of the leader Coaching/Feedback Supporting others Winning together Moving beyond your comfort zone Supervisors Supervisors All Employees All Employees Yellow subject/titles represent those programs already being offered or scheduled for this year. Food for Thought – regular lunch meetings with supervisors where “we provide the food, you provide the thoughts” Supervisors discuss ee relations issues through case studies that we present to group for discussion. Based on their past experience with feedback from HR at end. Follow up with toolks, info, etc. based on their thoughts on what they need. Managing Projects for Success Focus on priority setting and time management, the importance of communication to help projects succeed, and influencing others Two half day sessions this summer Business Leadership Training Initially targeted at supervisors, will be opened to invited high performers as a “learning to lead” program Five sessions this summer – the first is a half day, followed by four two-hour lunch meetings Company Confidential
