3. Title I Overview What is it? How does it work?
Title I is a federal assistance program for low-income schools that have a high percentage of students receiving free/reduced lunch. These schools receive additional funding to ensure high-quality education is provided to all students with added resources and personnel.
School district identifies schools that are eligible for Title I based on percentage of students receiving free/reduced lunch and disburses those funds to the schools. The federal government provides the funding that is sent to the states for Title I, which is then sent to the school districts.

14. Mentoring One-on-One Mentoring with Faculty or Staff
Our Boys-to-Men mentoring program created to target males. The program will be based upon building a comradery with the boys leading to self- improvement and achievement. 
The program will also incorporate one Saturday a month for an outing (Ex. Basketball, Fishing, Community Service activity, or Eating at a restaurant).

15. Mentoring Sisterhood Unity Support
Our Sisterhood mentoring program focuses on giving our lady Silver Knights the skills they need for a successful future. The girls meet weekly to

16. Literacy at Oak Park
All Level 1 and some Level 2 readers receive Intensive Reading Instruction as an elective each day.
Computer-based program: Achieve 3000.
All students receive standards-based English Language Arts (ELA) instruction.
Reading and Writing standards are infused in ELA instruction.
Literacy in every content-area class.
Strategies to support vocabulary enhancement and reading comprehension.
Mobile Library open during all lunches!

17. Authentic Literacy
Reading. Students are reading and engaged in complex academic text.
Writing. Students are given opportunities to write, formally and informally, citing evidence from complex academic text.
Thinking. Students are answering thought-provoking questions posed by their teachers and solving multi-step problems.
Speaking. Students are engaged in cooperative structures that give them opportunities to speak with each other about an array of content-specific topics.

18. Authentic Literacy at Home!
Create a print-rich environment at home! This includes books, magazine, and newspapers.
Encourage your child(ren) to read independently for pleasure for minutes each night.
Read together! Have your child(ren) read aloud to you or you and your child(ren) take turns reading to each other.
Have your child(ren) explain to you what they are reading and ask questions of them.
