Two types of microscopes…
Compound light – use a series of lenses to magnify objects. Magnify objects about 1500 times. (Leeuwenhoek and Hooke) Electron – uses a beam of electrons instead of light to magnify structures up to 500,000 times. Allows you to be able to see structures in cells.

Cell Theory All organisms are composed of one or more cells.
The cell is the basic unit of structure and organization of organisms. All cells come for preexisting cells.

Two basic types of cells…
Prokaryote- Unicellular organisms; contain no nucleus. (bacteria) Eukaryote- Unicellular and Multicellular (mostly these); contain nucleus (plants and animals)
