11. Lenses The eyepiece (#11) has a magnification of 10x.
The low power scanning lens (#4) has a magnification of 4x (RED).

12. Lenses The medium power lens (#5) has a magnification of 10x (YELLOW).
The high power lens (#6) has a magnification of 40x (BLUE).

13. Total Magnification
To find total magnification you multiply the power of the eyepiece (10x) by the power of the objective lens pointing at the stage.
Example: If you are viewing a slide under the lowest power objective lens you multiply:
(10) (4) = 40

14. RULES FOR MICROSCOPE USE
Carry the microscope with two hands, one on the base and one on the arm.
Before using the microscope, make sure the stage and lenses are dry, the 4x objective lens is pointing to the stage and the stage is all the way down.

15. RULES FOR MICROSCOPE USE
Make sure the 4x objective lens is in place when taking slides on or off the stage.
Do not tilt the microscope when viewing.
Use the coarse focus knob while on the lowest power lens, then switch to the fine focus knob to sharpen the focus.

16. RULES FOR MICROSCOPE USE
When using the 10x or 40x lens, only use the fine focus knob.
Before putting the microscope away, make sure the stage and lenses are dry, the 4x objective lens is pointing towards the stage, the stage is all the way down, and the light source is turned off.

17. RULES FOR MICROSCOPE USE
Place the dust cover over the microscope.
