3. The Big Picture
The point that I would like to make is that it was a hard life for Colonial Women. You had to get everything yourself. I also wanted you to know how hard I worked on this project. In the end it was all worth it.

4. What Were the Main Roles of Colonial Women?
The main roles of colonial women was to cook, clean, make clothes ,and most importantly, act ladylike.
They were to dress appropriately and act calm.
Also, they were expected to talk lightly and not shout.

5. What Did Colonial Women Wear?
Colonial women usually wore long gowns.
Underneath, they wore petticoats.
When they went outside, they usually wore caps which were covered by hats.
Both men and women wore stockings and low-heeled shoes.
They usually had only one set of clothes for the week and a special set of clothing for Sunday in church.

6. What Types of Jobs Did Colonial Women Have?
One of the jobs colonial women had was to make candles.
Candle making was hard.
You had to save animal fat all through winter!

7. Cooks Another job is to cook for the family.
The women usually grew grains, fruits, and vegetables.
One important grain was corn.
It was important because the women baked most foods with corn.
For example; bread and pies.

8. Dressmakers Dressmakers worked very hard to make dresses.
Every home had a loom and a spinner.
Usually people knew their size so they didn’t have to measure themselves every time they wanted to make something.
To make new clothes, the dressmakers used their old clothes for sizing.

9. At What Age Did Women Get Married?
Women under the age of 21 were under the legal control of their fathers.
Once they were married, they were under their husbands control.
Most women got married at the age of 21.

10. How Did Marriage Effect a Women’s Freedom?
Usually, married women were not allowed to own any property.
They were not even allowed to make decisions for themselves!

11. Compare and Contrast
Colonial women from back then are very different from women today.
Today women are allowed to own land.
They are allowed go to work and make their own decisions.
