How did towns start? How did the economy grow during the Middle Ages?

Feudalism in Europe Kings lost power after Charlemagne died.
Nobles took over and people looked to them for protection from the invaders. This led to Feudalism!

Manors What: Farming communities that nobles were in charge and peasants worked How: Freeman and serfs Why important: Revolts, escapes, treatment

Life during Feudalism Peasants: poor, small houses, church, played games Plow, windmills, and crop rotation improved farming techniques This lead to increased food!

What: Places became safer and easier to get to Why important: trade centers began to develop (Flanders, Venice etc.); middle class created

Your Task You will be creating an advertisement for a Medieval Town.
Make sure to emphasize if it is a trade center, why tourists should visit, and the over all look of your town. Because this is a longer assignment, it will be due Friday, BUT you can get started today!
