September 2009 PAR Scope – 802 and non-802 Coexistence solution is primarily needed for dissimilar 802 radio technologies, such as the and the future WhiteSpace variants for .11 and .16 However, it is useful and will strengthen the IEEE position as a Standards Making Body to address also non-802 radio technologies, which may be developed either for the FCC regulated White Space frequencies or for White Space bands in other regulatory domains => both are needed Ari Ahtiainen, Nokia

This information is used for co-existence and can improve the initial network discovery.
