Project SEARCH Overview
Began at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in 1996 500+ Project SEARCH programs throughout the US, Canada, Ireland, United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Bahrain Addresses the critical unemployment rates – 85% of people with developmental disabilities do not have a paid job in their community. (National Core Indicators) Business led collaboration with education, rehabilitation, community providers and long-term support agencies Braided funding Provides internship rotations for career exploration and job skills acquisition

What We Do Nine month training program
A team of 6-8 interns with a variety of intellectual and developmental disabilities On-site skills trainers and instructor Immersed in business culture Rotate through three internships with continual feedback Customized job search assistance (Job developer and on-going coaching) Outcome of employment in community

AUG JUNE 1st Internship Graduate & Begin Work at Host Site or in Community 2nd Internship 3rd Internship 2 – 3 week Orientation Transition Week Begin Regular Employment Planning Meetings Business Advisory Groups and Family Involvement Curriculum Job Search intensifies during 2nd Internship Intern Recruitment begins late fall/early winter

A Day in the life of a Project SEARCH Intern
9:00 – 10:00 Classroom (Employability Skills Training) 10:00 – 12:30 Internship site 12:30 Lunch 1:00 – 3:00 Internship site 3:00 Classroom (Review, Plan, Journaling) 3:30 Depart Can be modified to meet business needs.

Project SEARCH Eligibility Criteria
At least 18 years of age Eligible for Medicaid and Waiver Sercices Eligible for Multnomah County Developmental Disabilities and Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation services Appropriate hygiene, social, and communication skills Ability to take direction and change behavior Access public transportation Pass drug screen, background check Desire to Work!
