2. Notes
1950 – Communist gain control of China after a civil war. Their enemies fled to Taiwan and set up the Republic of China. This scared the U.S. as it seemed communism was winning.
After WW2, Japan was forced to leave Korea which they had conquered. The Soviets and Americans split the country into two. North – communist, South – democratic.

25th June 1950, North Korean leader Kim Il (i L) Sung wanted to unite all Korea as communist and invaded South Korea. The United Nations sends an army to help South Korea. China sends an army to help North Korea
