A ‘how to’ guide for CIPS members

2 Why is Continuing Professional Development (CPD) important?
CPD is a vital aspect for the modern practising professional who wants to be seen as current and at the top of their game. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is essential for supporting career progression, performance at work and future employability. Procurement Professionals should be up-to-date

3 Professional recognition for CPD
Our members wanted us to recognise those who keep their professional knowledge up to date: Our CPD programme now paves the way for those with MCIPS or FCIPS to: Chartered Procurement and Supply Professional This will provide credibility and recognition for CPD At CIPS we strongly support individuals’ professional growth

Achieved by 30 hours CPD + CIPS Ethics Certificate = MCIPS/FCIPS Chartered Procurement and Supply Professional

6 Who is eligible to become a Chartered professional
Members can apply to become a Chartered professional in ‘MyCIPS’ by confirming they meet the following: MCIPS or FCIPS membership is current have completed and recorded 30 hrs CPD in the previous 12 months. It doesn’t have to be in a CIPS CPD account, it can be recorded in anyway and must have a learning statement hold an up to date CIPS Ethical Procurement and Supply Certificate. Studying members can upgrade on successful completion of a recognised learning programme

7 How to Self-Declare CPD hours
Step 1: Login to MyCIPS and select My Learning and Development Step 2: Select Confirm

8 How to Self-Declare CPD hours
Step 3: Confirm that you have completed 30 hours CPD in the last 12 months Step 4: Congratulations, in MyCertificates you can download your latest certificate. A Allow up to 24 hours for your certificate to be available

9 CIPS Professional Register of current members
Register will only show current members Evidence of professional status for individuals 24 hours later your new membership status appears on CIPS Professional Register

10 How to present your Chartered status
Once you have achieved your new designation it should be written as per the example given here;

11 How to Self-Declare CPD hours
You will see the following message if you don’t have a valid CIPS Ethics Certificate, you will need to take the CIPS Ethical Procurement and Supply test, freely available to CIPS members. After completing the CIPS Ethical Procurement and Supply test please login to MyCIPS the following day to allow the systems to update. At this point you will be able to complete the Self-Declaration.

12 Membership Renewal – all criteria met
At your annual membership renewal you will be asked to confirm again that you meet the requirements to maintain your Chartered status for another year

13 Membership Renewal – CIPS Ethics Certificate not valid
If your CIPS Ethics certificate has expired you are required to update your certificate before you are eligible to renew with Chartered status Important notice If you choose not to renew your Chartered status this does not affect your MCIPS/FCIPS designation To maintain MCIPS/FCIPS designation your membership must be current
