Determining Longitudes
North Pole Reference: Prime meridian Longitude 60°W 0° South Pole at Greenwich (c) Longitude is measured as the angle between a line from Earth’s center to the measurement point and a line from Earth’s center to the prime (or Greenwich) meridian, which is a line drawn from the North Pole to the South Pole passing through Greenwich, England.
