2 Optogenetics Provides bi-directional control of neurons by introducing Light-sensitive proteins originally adapted from algae and bacteria, into neurons. Ability to target specific cell-types of the neuron and avoid inadvertent stimulation to unrelated neurons. Offers higher spatial and temporal resolution over traditional electrodes used for brain stimulation.
