2 Definition of Industrialisation
Industrialisation is the change from agriculture and small-scale cottage industry to large-scale manufacturing in factories. Or developing new forms of industry for mass consumption. In Western Europe, there was a rapid increase in urban populations in the 19th century as a result of job opportunities offered by the Industrial Revolution. In the developing world, industrialisation and urbanisation has happened at a later stage and took off in the 20th century.
