Landscape colour tricks

Special art tricks: Light
Draw a sun: start white inside, then move out, changing to yellow, orange and red. You can see the same principle in other light sources too! Also, make use of spiking rays to show light.
5
Drawing trees and bushes
Think about light on the tree. Colour. Texture. Roots, branches and leaves. Don’t just draw a brown stick with a green ball on top!
7
More special art tricks:
Adding shadow and shade by watercol0ur paints, or hatching and cross-hatching.
9
Even more special art tricks
Making objects look 3-D. With watercolour, use lightest colours first. Use water to blur; wet the paper first and let paint spread through it.
11
Mixing colours Use your pallette to mix colours and make new ones!
Purple = red + blue. Brown = red + green. Black (difficult!) = blue + red + yellow.
14
Adding other art materials
Adding other art materials Pencil to shade, cross-hatch, emphasis detail and strengthen lines and edges. Use oil pastel to enrich colour.
15
Improving art work done so far. What can we work on?
Working on the foreground, background or middle ground. Strengthening detail. Blurring, softening and mixing colours. Adding other art materials. Pause to evaluate our work so far and plan ways to improve it.
