Responding to Alerts – Overview
Receive the alert notification. Acknowledge the alert.* Create a response. If necessary, edit the response. Approve the response.* If necessary, update the response with errata. * Required before due date.

Reading Alerts List of alerts A list of alerts appears.
A list of alerts appears. Note that you will only be able to see alerts that apply to your entity, and some users will only be able to see alerts sent to their specific functional group. A list of alerts appears.

Reading Alerts Alert title link
Click the title of the alert you want to read. Click the title of the alert to read it.

Industry Advisory alerts do not require a response.
Reading Alerts Type Handling The contents of the alert appear. If the alert is a Industry Advisory, you do not have to respond. Industry Advisory alerts do not require a response.

Alert Types n Industry Advisory n Recommendation to Industry*
n Essential Action Notification* * Denotes that a response is required There are three types of alerts, Advisories, Recommendations, and Essential Actions. The last two alert types require that you respond. You can determine the alert’s type either by the large text at the top of the alert or by the alert’s background color.

Alert Handling Levels n Public n Private n Sensitive n Confidential*
* Can only be seen by Company Officers Each alert has an Handling Level, which determines who should be able to see the alert. Public Alerts are available for anyone to see. Private Alerts should be restricted to your personnel and trusted third-parties. Sensitive Alerts should be restricted to your personnel only. Confidential Alerts should only be seen by company officers. If you’re not a company officer, you will not be able to see these types of alerts.

Receive Alert Acknowledge Alert Respond to Questions Edit Response Approve Response Type Acknowledge and response form Alert Due Dates If it is a Recommendation to Industry or Essential Action Notification, you must acknowledge and respond to the alerts before the due date. A response action form appears for these types of alerts, providing buttons that allow you to acknowledge and respond to alerts, as well as see your response status. The due dates for acknowledging the alert and responding to the alert also appear. The first due date is the acknowledgement due date, the second due date is the response due date. Recommendation to Industry and Essential Action Notification alerts require a response.

Click the checkbox next to each of the entities you want to acknowledge the alert for. Select your Entities.

Viewing the Response Status
View the status of an alert at any time. The site tracks: when an alert was acknowledged and which user acknowledged it. when a response was added and edited and which user modified it. when the response was approved and which user approved it.

button Go to the alert and click the Status button. Click Status.

Acknowledgement Status (Acknowledged) Response Status (Approved) Response Status (Not approved) Acknowledged alerts show a checkmark under the acknowledgement heading. If a response has been created, the name of the user that created it, and when they created it, appears next to the added by label. If the response has been approved, the name of the approving user and when it was appears next to the approved by label.
