An Old Testament Comparison
5
Revelation 10 & Ezekiel 2:8-3:4
8 But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”9 Now when I looked, there was a hand stretched out to me; and behold, a scroll of a book was in it. 10 Then He spread it before me; and there was writing on the inside and on the outside, and written on it were lamentations and mourning and woe.
6
Revelation 10 & Ezekiel 2:8-3:4
1 Moreover He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” 2 So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll. 3 And He said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.” So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness.4 Then He said to me: “Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them.
7
Ezekiel’s Scroll Then He spread it before me; and there was writing on the inside and on the outside, and written on it were lamentations and mourning and woe. Ezekiel 2:10

New Testament Prophecy
9
The Angel & the Book I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. Revelation 10:1
10
The Message is Universal
He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, Revelation 10:2
11
This Event precedes the sounding of the 7th Trumpet & the completion of God’s Mystery
but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets. Revelation 10:7
12
This Event precedes the sounding of the 7th Trumpet & the completion of God’s Mystery
For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles— if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel, of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power Ephesians 3:1-7
13
This Event precedes the sounding of the 7th Trumpet & the completion of God’s Mystery
the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:26-27
14
The Bittersweet Book So I went to the angel and said to him, “Give me the little book.”And he said to me, “Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth.”Then I took the little book out of the angel's hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter. Revelation 10:9-10
15
The Bittersweet Book The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.More to be desired are they than gold,Yea, than much fine gold;Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them Your servant is warned,And in keeping them there is great reward. Psalm 19:7-11

John’s Message is from Heaven
The Mighty Angel with the Little BookI saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud… Revelation 10:1a
18
The Source of the Word Should cause man to…
Receive God’s Word Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21
19
The Source of the Word Should cause man to…
Obey God’s Word Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because“All flesh is as grass,And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers,And its flower falls away,But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you. 1 Peter 1:22-25
20
The Source of the Word Should cause man to…
Desire the Word so one can grow Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 1 Peter 2:1-3
21
Conclusion 1. The Word of God may be bittersweet however it still must be respected & obeyed. For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe. 1 Thessalonians 2:13
22
Conclusion 2. God’s Word has sweet promises for those who receive it. …and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21b
23
Conclusion 3. We must also never forget the bitter, the destruction that awaits those who do not obey Him. and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9
