They were the subject of the Buddha’s first sermon (The Sermon at Deer Park)
Buddhists use the analogy of doctor to explain them:
The Buddha is the doctor who makes the diagnosis that something is ‘wrong’ – Dukkha
The diagnosis of the cause of the illness is craving tanha
There is a cure; it is to achieve nibbana
The prescription is to follow the Noble Eightfold Path

7. Buddhists say that all life is suffering; nothing can be further from the truth.
