2. Objective
P.FM.E.3- A force is either a push or a pull. The motion of objects can be changed by forces. The size of the change is related to the size of the force. The change is also related to the mass of the object on which the force is being exerted. When an object does not move in response to a force, it is because the environment is applying another force.

The motor! The bus cannot move on it’s own. It needs something to start the motion- The motor is the force needed to start the bus!

6. What is force? Is force a push or a pull
Think about a door. The door will stay in the same place unless something like your hand or the wind pushes or pulls it closed.

7. Question: Is it possible for an ant to move a brick?
Yes No

8. Correct!
No, an ant isn’t strong enough to move a brick. For an object to move, the amount of force has to be strong enough to move it.

Now that we know what motion is and force causes motion, let’s talk about how to describe it!
You can describe motion with 3 types of words:

11. Speed Words These words describe the speed of the motion: fast quick

12. Direction Words These words describe the direction of the motion: leftup

20. Review Motion occurs when an object moves from one place to another.
For motion to occur, there has to be a force on the object.
A force is a push or pull.
The force has to be stronger than the object.
