Which foods can you see in the picture? Why do we eat?
Food contains the different nutrients we need to live and grow.

Do all foods contain the same nutrients?
There are five type of nutrients: carbohydrates, fats, proteins, minerals and vitamins. Different foods contain different nutrients.

What do different nutrients give our bodies?
Carbohydrates give us energy. Fats build a store of extra energy, but you shouldn’t eat too many. Proteins help us grow. Vitamins and minerals help us to stay healthy. We need to drink six to eight glasses of water every day.

How often should we eat different foods?
Eat the food in the green levels every day. Eat a little of the food in the yellow level every day. Eat the food in the red level only on special occasions.
