1 ACEs ACEs everywhere. and no one seemed to care. ACEs ACEs everywhere
ACEs ACEs everywhere and no one seemed to care. ACEs ACEs everywhere and we must now repair.

2 Looking back in order to look forward
Dennis Haffron I’ve been publicly posting these two observations.

3 CONSIDER THIS: To what extent did and does ACE and trauma blindness contribute to the participation of higher education institutions in the traumatization and re-traumatization of young athletes associated with their systems. This issue is not just about sports or one sex. Was Larry Nasser (and potentially other pedophiles) the only person who understood the power of caring? Look at what use he made of that knowledge.

4 CONSIDER THIS: Successful pedophiles, child prostitution pimps, and gang recruiters are instinctively more familiar with the effects of ACEs than are para- and pre-professionally college trained human services and public safety students. I call this effect Perverse ACEs Awareness.

5 Here are the experiences that I’ve had that have led to these postings.

6 In Rockford, in the 1960s, When encountering the phenomena of (female) child prostitution two striking indications of ACEs were apparent in the observations of Martin House and mapping by Alliance For Labor staff. First, the young woman that were recruited were recruited (at that time) in the malls by burned-out prostitutes who could identify them by their behavior. They were offered a supportive and loving (initially) environment by their future pimps. Second, when the Alliance For Labor Community Services staff plotted the residential locations of these child prostitutes we found that they were distributed geographically throughout all, ethnic, racial, social class and economic areas.

7 in Chicago, in the 1920s In Park and Burgess’s study of geographical neighborhood areas, and Shaw’s work it was found that gang behavior tended to be concentrated in those neighborhood areas of poverty and low resources. Gang behavior did not occur equally throughout all neighborhoods of the city. If it was purely an ACEs phenomena or a mental illness phenomena gang behavior would be distributed equally through neighborhoods. However in the 1970s ACEs video from KRCB North Bay Public Media an ex-gang member with a high ACE score recounted what the gangs offered him. While the neighbor hood was important gang recruiting was necessary.

8 In a Midwestern city In the 1960s,
I encountered a pedophile who was the youth director, and the scoutmaster, at the community center where I was the board president I later found out that where he had been college trained, as a professional youth worker, there was/were incident(s) that were not reported to us prior to our hiring him. In the 1970s, the VIRTUS program presented to educators, and human service staff, working in Catholic institutions stated, in the training video, that pedophiles tend to work in areas where they locate susceptible victims and interact with (groom) them in relative privacy.

9 Perverse ACEs Awareness
I postulate that in all three cases Perverse ACEs Awareness is an underlying factor in the criminal activities.

10 VIRTUS is the brand name that identifies best practices programs designed to help prevent wrongdoing and promote "rightdoing" within religious organizations. The VIRTUS programs empower organizations and people to better control risk and improve the lives of all those who interact with the Church. and those who interact with the Church. Robert E. Park, Ernest W. Burgess, Roderick Duncan McKenzie University of Chicago Press, May 15, 1984 - Social Science - 239 pages Clifford R. Shaw and Henry D. McKay: The Social Disorganization Theory By Carlin Wong The City, first published in 1925 and reprinted here in its entirety, is a cross-section of concerns of the Chicago urban school during the period of its most intense activity. Park and Burgess realized that ecological and economic factors were converted into a social organization by the traditions and aspirations of city dwellers. In their efforts to achieve objectivity, these sociologists never lost sight of the values that propel human beings This is a half hour presentation, from KRCB North Bay Public Media that covers ACEs. Suitable for in depth introduction to para-professionals or students. It mentions ACEs mimicking ADHD. At 14 min 30 sec it covers gangs.
