By 1635, European countries were claiming land throughout the world.
On the Atlantic Coast of North America, the Dutch and the English had colonies.

4. English Colonies
The “Thirteen Colonies” were originally a Dutch possession.
By the late 1600s, the English gain possession of the “Thirteen Colonies”

5. French Settlement
Champlain’s settlement at “Quebec” was not his first priority.
The Company of Hundred Associates was required to bring settlers.
They also needed to set up a form of government.
