7 The Tigris and Euphrates Rivers
The Tigris and Euphrates Rivers begin in the Anatolian Peninsula Both of these rivers flow into the Persian Gulf

8 Mesopotamia Mesopotamia means: “The Land Between Two Rivers”
This area is referred to as the “Cradle of Civilization” This is where the world’s first civilizations began because of the discovery of agriculture

10 The Persian Gulf The Persian Gulf is part of the Indian Ocean
Located between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran

12 The Red Sea The Red Sea lies between Africa and Asia
It is almost 1400 miles long and only 200 miles wide

14 The Mediterranean Sea The Mediterranean Sea connects 3 continents:
Africa, Europe, and Asia The Mediterranean Sea connects to the Atlantic Ocean

18 The Caspian Sea The Caspian Sea is the world’s largest enclosed body of water It is sometimes referred to as “The World’s Largest Lake”

Peninsula- A piece of land that is almost entirely surrounded by water An island is completely surrounded by water

22 The Fertile Crescent Outside of the Fertile Crescent, the land is very dry and not good for growing crops Little rainfall and hot summers
