Let’s start with the cloud opportunity that is out there today.

3 Network requirements for the Cloud
Scalability Performance Agility & Flexibility Convergence of Data & Storage Network Dynamic & Seamless migration of Virtual Machines Enterprises, service providers, small businesses, and governments are looking for cloud solutions to solve some of their biggest business and technology challenges: reducing costs, creating new levels of efficiency, and facilitating innovative business models that drive revenue growth. Here we call out areas our customers are asking us to help address as we move toward cloud deployments: Agility, economics, security, and the overall experience. The challenge and opportunity of the world of many clouds is to bring together cloud computing, the network, and storage, spread across multiple clouds comprised of thousands upon thousands of content/data that must work together seamlessly, on-demand, and securely. 4 The World of Many Clouds
Healthcare Media Government Hybrid Private Public “………IT organizations must adopt a hybrid IT strategy that not only builds internal clouds to house critical IT services and compete with public CSPs, but also utilizes the external cloud to house noncritical IT services and data, augments internal capacity and increases IT agility….” Enterprises, service providers, small businesses, and governments are looking for cloud solutions to solve some of their biggest business and technology challenges: reducing costs, creating new levels of efficiency, and facilitating innovative business models that drive revenue growth. Cisco believes that each customer and situation requires a different cloud solution: some private, some public, some consuming services, some communities integrating multiple clouds together. The challenge and opportunity of the world of many clouds is to bring together cloud computing, the network, and storage, spread across many clouds comprised of thousands upon thousands of content/data that must work together on-demand and securely. Cisco has the network platform that enables the cloud (within the cloud/DC, between clouds, and beyond to the customer) and compute DNA along with an ecosystem of partners to enable this world of many clouds working together. When implemented successfully, the cloud will allow cloud providers to tightly align technology to business priorities; service providers to deliver new services and content to their customers; governments and emerging countries to consolidate and advance technology faster; and consumers to instantly access new services. There is a huge opportunity here for service providers, so let’s talk about what we’re finding. & more Connecting People and Businesses with the World of Many Clouds

8 Cisco Unified Data Center Unifying networking, compute, storage and management into a common fabric-based architecture UNIFIED COMPUTING UNIFIED MANAGEMENT UNIFIED FABRIC Unified Data Center Compute Network Storage Management Security Business Agility Physical Financial Efficiency Virtual Cloud The Unified Data Center is a platform that changes the economics of the data center by unifying networking, compute, storage and management into a common fabric-based architecture designed to deliver business agility, IT simplicity and financial flexibility.  Unlike other solutions, which continue to build layers of management software to stitch together a legacy infrastructure, this platform is designed specifically to enable on-demand provisioning from shared pools of infrastructure resource across physical and virtual environments.  This approach helps move from legacy IT to IT-as-a-Service, which is a much simpler and more efficient model for data center operations. The Unified Data Center is made up of three components: Unified Fabric describes our switching architecture for service-enabled LAN, SAN and converged networks. With a consistent NX-OS operating system across the MDS and Nexus portfolios, capabilities optimized for virtualization, and security, load balancing and WAN optimization solutions in both a physical and virtual form factor, customers can deploy a intelligent, scalable and highly available infrastructure. Unified Computing describes our fabric-based x86 architecture. By creating a networked, highly programmable platform optimized for virtualization and cloud, customers have a computing platform that can be rapidly deployed and easily maintained while being able to provide switching, policy and services down to the virtual machine. Unified Management brings together Cisco’s Intelligent Automation for Cloud, which provides a self-service portal, service catalog, management and orchestration capabilities along with the Network Services Manager for automated network provisioning, and UCS Manager for UCS programmability.
