The following were identified as strategic rationale for further engagement in the Northern Virginia / D.C. metro area by Darden: Easy transportation access for prospective students, reducing travel time; thousands of flights to Dulles and Reagan airports plus train links. Preempting competition from other leading schools in D.C. area. UVA Darden identified as highest-ranked and highest-profile MBA program vs. possible D.C.-area competitors. Market demand and growth opportunity for degree and non-degree/executive education formats. Strength of UVA and Darden brand and alumni concentration in region. Rise of flexible MBA and other business degree formats.

5 DARDEN IN NORTHERN VA / D.C. AREA
Over the last three years, Darden has made strategic investments in the Northern Virginia / D.C. area. 2015 D.C. task force reports to faculty and Darden Foundation Board. Darden faculty vote to launch Executive MBA section in D.C. area. 2016 ExecMBA starts in Rosslyn at full capacity. Darden offices open at 1100 Wilson Blvd.: 5,000 sq. ft. 2017 Sands family commits $5M to new Sands Family Grounds to open in 2018. Darden Foundation signs lease for Sands Family Grounds: 40,000 sq. ft. 2018 Sands Family Grounds opens. Greg Fairchild named UVA Director of Northern Virginia operations. MSBA begins in Rosslyn.

Executive MBA Master of Science in Business Analytics (with McIntire) Students enrolled in Rosslyn- based degree offerings. Delivered over 21 months in weekend and week-long residencies, 33% online. ~270 students per year Charlottesville and Rosslyn. Average age 34 30-35% veterans All students spend meaningful time in Charlottesville. Approved by BOV in January 2018; by SCHEV in May 2018. ~2,400 inquiries from January-June. Delivered over 12 months in weekend residencies, 50% online. Some classes in Charlottesville. ~30 students in first class (60 students at scale).

Executive Education 22 programs delivered in full or in part to 500+ participants in Northern Virginia over last three years. Stakeholder engagement More than 3,300 guests to the Sands Family Grounds from March-June including alumni events, admissions, students and thought leadership events.
