1 Saint Augustine’s Catholic High School Crisis Pregnancy Charity Appeal 2018
‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ – Jesus

2 What is a crisis pregnancy?
A crisis pregnancy can be described as a pregnancy that is not planned. This can sometimes cause massive distress for the expecting mother. This can be due to reasons such as; violence, lack of support from families, their young age, financial problems, unemployment, education and absence of a partner. ‘Life’ charity is a pro-life organisation that supports women in crisis pregnancies. As members of a Catholic School, we are called to support people in their times of need and help, not judge, them. Catholics will think of the story of Mary, who was told their was no room in the inn when she was expecting baby Jesus, and think about how they can help someone in their time of need. Being in a Catholic School is about Gospel Values in action as Jesus said: ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ – Jesus

3 What can we do to help? In your tutor groups, you are going to have a box to gather together items that we can give to an expectant mother facing a crisis pregnancy. It is our hope that it gives them one less thing to worry about and makes them feel supported and cared for, even by strangers. You will have until Monday 14th May to collect items for your hamper. The boxes will then go to ‘Life’ charity to be distributed to those who need them. Clothes can be used but must be in a good condition and washed. ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ – Jesus

4 What can we do to help? Items needed are: Long-life baby food

5 What impact will your help have?
“When I first found out I was pregnant – my heart sank. It was not planned and the father and I were no longer on speaking terms. With no support and little money, I did not know who to turn to. A friend told me to get in touch with Life. From then on things started to change. They provided me with all the items I needed to prepare for the arrival of my baby. Without this help and their guidance I don’t know what I would have done.” ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ – Jesus

6 Thank you for helping those who need it the most 
What now? A collection box will be delivered to form rooms. If you are in the supermarket, see if they have any discounted toiletries or ‘basics’ ranges. Go home tonight and politely ask if there are any items that are suitable or, ask anyone with small children. Thank you for helping those who need it the most  ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ – Jesus

7 Prayer All life is precious and deserves love and support at all stages. Help us to be called to a life of service and sacrifice by helping those facing crisis pregnancies and offering dignity and compassion and the hope of a brighter future for them and their babies. Amen. ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ – Jesus
